Love and We Are Proud Of
Our province, Ilocos Sur is known as one of the beautiful provinces located in the northern part of Luzon. Our province is rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share the treasures to the whole world, we Ilocanos have a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and it is called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”.
Despite of the Covid 19 pandemic, our province Ilocos Sur still celebrated Kannadiwan 2022, giving us Ilocanos a needed dose of enjoyment. There was a pageant named Saniata ti Ylocos, and our representative from Vigan even won the crown. It was our City’s very first crown and very first win. There were other shows, and products were still sold around the area, so a lot can surely try out our delicacies and they can even buy some souvenirs even.
But what is the significance of this said festival? Well, Kannawidan is the festival in the Province of Ilocos Sur commemorating the separation of the two Ilocos provinces in 1818. This festival is a showcase of indigenous performances, religious rituals, as well cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes. This festival shows history, culture and tradition. We Ilocanos should be proud of it, and we should really celebrate it.

Hello there, Gieminn! I am intrigued by this blog of yours. The message is overwhelming and clear. The province of Ilocos Sur sure does have a historically and culturally rich background, it is something that we should celebrate and be proud of as Ilocanos. Although the pandemic had an effect to the celebration of the festival, it still did not changed or stop us from celebrating the true meaning of the fiesta.
